„Валериан и градът на хилядите планети“ освен един от най-мащабните филми за това лято от към кинематографична гледна точка, се очертава и като един от най-интересните в музикално отношение. Изключителният Александър Деспла се е подписал под музикалния фон на филма. Композиторът е един от малкото носители на златната тройка- Оскар, Златен Глобус и Грами за музика от филмите му ( и не по един).Само ще споменем „Кралицата“, „Речта на краля“, „Фантастичният случай на Бенджамин Батън“, „Арго“ , „Игра на кодове“- като за всички тях има номинации за Оскар. Статуетката печели за най-добра музика към „The Grand Budapest Hotel“.
Важно за отбелязване е, че дори сър Пол Макартни е дал разрешение песента на Бийтълс „Because“ да бъде включена във филма. Тя е използвана за трейлъра на „Валериан и градът на хилядите планети.
